Overview

1965 Shelby Cobra

You will be a rock star in this breathtaking Superformance MKIII (SP02020) with its rare (one of only four built) Rouge D Enfer brilliant red paint with contrasting Viper steel gray stripes. The car has ceramic coated headers and side pipes while stainless steel accents include competition style bumper jacks (front and back), roll bar, radiator and oil cooler stone guards. The flawless paint is protected up front by a clear bra. The roadster rides on traditional 18” pin-drive aluminum Halibrand style knock off wheels shod with high performance tires.

The professionally-built RDI “Road Course” engine is based on Ford 351 Windsor V8 before it was given “One Lap of America” specs. It now boasts 480 reliable horsepower from the 396 c.i.d. engine tailored to the car. Key components include a Holley 770 carburetor, Ford Racing aluminum heads, single-plane Edelbrock 'Victor Jr.' aluminum intake manifold, Ford Racing high-performance hydraulic roller-lifter cam and MSD system (distributor, ignition, rev limiter). Electric cooling fans are an important finishing touch.

The car has a Jordan shifter connected to the robust TKO 500 5-speed Tremec manual transmission that was upgraded to 3.55 gear ratios. The V8 sends power to the Dana independent rear suspension. Power Disc 4 Piston Wilwood brakes with stainless steel lines and power assist provides this MKIII with amazing stopping power while the Bilstein coil-over shocks, as well as front and rear sway bars maximize the car's handling.

SP02020 has an elegant Moto Lita leather wrapped steering wheel. The period correct SC dash houses Smith instrument gauges, Lucas toggle switches, an amp gauge and a 180 mph reverse speedometer. The cockpit is swathed throughout in German leather including the seats, while the doors are secured by original style carriage latches. All openings, such as engine bay, trunk, and cockpit are wrapped around the steel subframe for increased strength and support. The roadster even has a rare optional locking glove box.

The Superformance MKIII is a meticulously engineered and crafted reproduction of the original, built under license from Carroll Shelby Licensing Inc. No expense was spared in recreating the legendary car, ensuring an authentic sports car experience.

SP02020 is titled as a 1965 ASVE in Canada with 550 miles on the new odometer and 17,600 miles on the old one and is available for only $94,950.
