In 1964 Carroll Shelby took the 289 Cobra to the next level of competition. With the help of Peter Brock who designed a Coupe body to go over the existing 289 cobra, replacing the poor design of the flat nosed cobras. The result was a dominating season in 1964 culminating in the 1965 FIA Championship.
Shelby American introduced a new Grand Tourer in 2007, the CSX9000. Based on a new chassis and with a body designed again by Peter Brock. These CSX9000's were made out of Fiberglass to reduce the cost.
