Because the Shelby Cobra roadster lacked the aerodynamics needed to win on fast European tracks, Carroll Shelby commissioned Peter Brock to create a slick coupe body for the car. The Shelby Cobra Daytona promptly began winning races worldwide. Only six were built, leading Shelby American to capture the USA's only FIA sports car world championship.
The CSX9000 series is a modern update of the car that ruled the track in 1965, and it makes every bit the impact today as it did then. Penned by original designers Peter Brock and Bob Negstad, the car features a tough composite body with show quality paint. The Daytona features a tubular space frame constructed of mild steel, independent suspension front and rear, power rack and pinion steering, and a limited slip differential.
CSX9114 is a show-stopping example of the modern Shelby Daytona Coupe. The Monza Red with Dark Silver twin stripes sports car has a split rear cove, BRE Coupe rear window and driving light lenses, BRE mirrors painted to match, and gray-painted 18-inch wheels. Additional detailing includes Peter Brock side badges and a front nose clear bra.
The powertrain is championship caliber, with a Roush 427SR V8 bolstered by an Edelbrock Performer RPM intake manifold, Holley fuel injection system, K&N filters and silver ceramic coated headers feeding an original styler side exit exhaust. The engine is rated at 525 horsepower and 532 ft-lbs of torque. Backing up the powerful V8 is a TREMEC manual transmission.
The CSX9000 series interior is a standout mix of classic Daytona features and modern conveniences like electronic gauges, retractable seat belts and locking glove compartment. It combines a vintage sports car experience with modern comforts, such as air conditioning and a heater. The steering wheel is highlighted by a Daytona Coupe Cobra emblem.
CSX9114 has BRE gauges, Shelby floor and trunk mats, and a Carroll Shelby signature on the glove box door. The car has a spare wheel and tire, billet fire extinguisher, and car cover.
Eligible for the Shelby American Automobile Club owners registry, CSX9114 has previous SB100 registration in California. First odometer: 3,864. Second odometer: 5,345. It is available for $259,950.
